SBI Clerk 2016: Job Profile, Syllabus & Exam Pattern-----

State Bank of India has just released the vacancies for the post of Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales) & Junior Agricultural Associates in Clerical Cadre. As per the notification, the number of vacancies for the given posts is as follows:
Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales) – 10,726.
Junior Agricultural Associates – 3008
In addition, there are back log vacancies for Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales) & special recruitment vacancies for Tura and Kashmir Valley & Ladakh region.
There are many queries arising in the mind of candidates, about the nature of the job. So here we are providing you a detailed analysis of the job profile of Junior Associates.
According to the Official Notification, the Junior Associates will be entitled to the following tasks:
  • They will be required to make customer calls
  • They will be providing banking services; advisory services and cross sell products inside and outside Bank premises.
  • The duties of a Junior Associate involve extensive outdoor travelling.
  • The working hours for Junior Associate may vary depending upon requirement, there will be flexible working hours and working in shifts.
  • They are required to have good command on English language both in writing and speaking. And also should have good communication skill, to relate with customer.
Note: It is mentioned in the notification, that the candidate must have ability to do Marketing.
Now let’s move to Selection Process of SBI Clerk.
The selection process consists of 3 phases:
i) Phase – I: Preliminary Examination (Online Objective Test)
ii) Phase – II: Main Examination (Online Objective Test)
iii) Phase – III: Interview + Local Language Test (Verbal Test)
Phase-I: Preliminary Examination:
This will be an Online Objective Test consisting of 100 marks and 3 sections, which are

Note: i) The cutoffs will be applied at two stages i.e. Sectional Cutoff & Overall Cutoff.
ii) There will be a negative marking of 1/4th  mark.
Phase – II: Main Examination:
This will be Online Objective Test consisting of 190 questions and is of 2 hours 40 minutes. And it will consist of the following tests.

Note: i) The timing for each test is different and is mentioned above.
ii) There will be a negative marking of 1/4th mark.
iii) The cutoffs will be applied at two stages i.e. Sectional Cutoff & Overall Cutoff.
Phase – III: Interview (It will be subjected to government of India approval)
Candidates who qualified in the Main Examination will be arranged in the descending order for each category to prepare a merit list. And those candidates who are well above a prescribed cutoff in the merit will be called for interview.
Note: Interview for this post will occur only if the government of India gives approval.
Besides Interview there will be a Local/Official Language test, whose details are given below:
The local /official Language test will be conducted at the time of Interview (if interview is held). And if Interview is not held, the local Language test will be conducted before the final selection.
Now those candidates who have studied Official /Local Language in 10th standard will be exempted from Language Test, provided they produce the evidence i.e. mark sheet/certificate.
Candidates who are not proficient in the official and/or local language would be disqualified.
Final Selection:
Phase I will be only qualifying in nature and the marks obtained in Phase I will not be considered for Final Selection.
Final selection will be made on the basis of candidate’s performance in Phase II examinationand interview (if Interview is held) taken together in order of merit.
